Hardwood Flooring

Today’s homeowner must choose from a huge variety of different types and specialties of wood.

When installing a new floor, hardwood flooring is broken-down into three types:

·         Unfinished hardwood flooring

Solid 3/4” unfinished wood which has to be sanded and finished “on-site”.  Least expensive/largest selection of species.

·         Pre-finished hardwood flooring

Solid ¾” pre-finished lumber – no sanding or finishing required.  More expensive than unfinished wood/smaller selection of species.

·         Pre-finished laminated hardwood

An “engineered” wood made-up of a softwood core and hardwood veneer – no sanding or finishing required.  Most expensive/smaller selection of species.  Engineered wood is the only type suitable for below grade (basement) installations and installation directly over concrete.

Custom installation services are an LS Flooring specialty.  The variety of unique accents and floor displays that make your house special is limited only by your imagination.  We at LS Flooring will work with you and your architect to achieve the floor that you envision.

Ask about these special services when installing a new floor:

Sanding and Finishing

Sanding is the last step in a new hard floor installation or it can rejuvenate an old or worn floor.  After sanding, finishing is done with a clear or color stain* and a clear protective top-coat (usually oil based polyurethane or water-based poly) in a choice of glossy, semi-gloss or satin finish.

Extra services and repair to old floors are also done at this time.  These include:

·         Carpet removal

·         Trim removal and installation

·         Bleaching out dark stains

·         Board/partial floor removal and installation

·         Wood filling of holes and minor damage

Special low fume/environmentally friendly finishing systems available.  We also restore and refinish stairs, including treads, stringers, risers and handrails.

Curved Borders and Stairs

Specialty cuts are also a mastered craft at LS Flooring.  No job is too difficult.
